Hosting a work party, but people want to bring too many guests...?

I work part time as a bartender at a local concert hall. We always have a Xmas party, but this year our usual location wasn%26#039;t available. After discussing with everyone, it was decided that my apartment (where I live with my boyfriend who also works there) would be the best option. I warned everyone that my apartment isn%26#039;t very big and that we have elderly neighbors so we couldn%26#039;t be too loud or rowdy. Since there would only be about 10-15 people attending, it was decided that this would be fine.

Well, I sent out the Evite and while I don%26#039;t mind if people want to bring one guest, there is one person who will be bringing FIVE people with him. And not family, either, but his buddies who I have never met. It seems as though some people are starting to think that this is going to be a drunken throwdown and I%26#039;m afriad other people will show up with extra people as well.

Is there a way to tactfully say these people are not allowed? Or should I cancel? I don%26#039;t want to lose my lease!

Simply tell the people something like this:

%26quot;I am flattered that you are so excited about my party and want to share it with your friends, however, this is a small and intimate event. I would like to keep it that way. It%26#039;s fine to bring a guest, but we would like to keep the party cozy and not overcrowded.%26quot;

Then hope they get the message. People are so rude. Why can%26#039;t they have their own darn party and invite who they want? Oh, I know...then they would have to pay for stuff and actually do the clean up. Moochers!

Just simply come right out and say that due to the limited space, everyone may bring 1 guest! This guy who says hes bringing 5 is rude %26amp; inconsiderate, if he cant comply with your wishes, tell him not to come!

Other Replys:send everyone a e-mail saying, I hope you can come to the party. SPread the cheer in my small apartment and invite your family and one guest at most. Please dont bring more than ____

guest so there will be enough food for everyone. Have a great Holiday!

Other Replys:at my work parties you are only allowed to bring one guest per person and usually people only bring their significant other. we aren%26#039;t just allowed to bring random friends. just tell him that since it is a work function you would appreciate if he only brought one person since it%26#039;s for work people and not just a party.
