I have very specific etiquette questions concerning hosting a baby shower. Can you help me?

There are 4 of us hosting a baby shower. What is the etiquette regarding each of us giving the mother-to-be gifts? I am being told that it is etiquette for the hostesses to give 1 gift as a group. If you have a personal gift that it should not be given during the shower. Is this correct? So far, I have not been able to find protocol on this specific topic.

That%26#039;s because there is no protocol. WE had 5 people host a baby shower, since the girl was all of our friends we each got her a gift. If you wish to give her something personal you can do it in private.

It is neither proper nor improper to give a group gift. if you all want to do it individually --go for it.

as for the private gift that you want to give. Make sure you give it to her after everyone else has left. This would be a special time between her and you.

Other Replys:Perhaps it should be whatever the four of you agree upon, Sometimes the hosts do not give gifts beause they hosted a party. Other times, they do. Decide as friends and then stick to it.

Other Replys:it is completely up to the hostesses if they wish to give a combined gift. however, if you wish to participate in the group gift but also give a separate,more personal one. that should be given at another time so as not to upset the other hostesses.

Other Replys:I am not sure what is exactly right or even if there is a certain set-up of who buys the gift and when it is received. My suggestion would be,and I always enjoyed this gift....take a small laundry basket and fill it full of %26quot;new baby goodies%26quot;,like diapers,wipes,an outfit,bottles,bibs all which are inexpensive and it wouldn%26#039;t take much to fill it up, if all 4 of you add two or three things a piece.You could give it to her first or save it for last either way she will greatly appreciate it,I%26#039;m sure.
