Do you have any tips for hosting a holiday party? Food? Decorations? Activities?

I%26#039;m hosting a get-together for my husband%26#039;s family on Christmas Eve. There will be about 20 people in attendance. I%26#039;d love to make it an extra-special event as this is the first time they%26#039;ll be in our new home!

I always love to make my holiday parties special, but it depends on your definition of %26quot;special%26quot;. It also depends on how much work you want to put into the occassion. Since it%26#039;s only once a year, I do a LOT of work! ( Rather than stressful, I find it brings out the child-like excitement of Christmas in me)

I make special party foods that are handsomely decorated- cocktail meatballs with the pretty toothpicks, miniature frosted cakes on a tier plate- you get the idea. I also rim the cocktail glasses with colored sugar, use napkins with festive rings placed in a basket. I go the extra mile to do it, because for years afterward, I hear %26quot; Do you remember the party you held with the ( insert special food or unique decoration) you had?%26quot; You wouldn%26#039;t believe just a tiny thing like a garnish of chives and a cherry tomato on top of your chip dips really gets people in a festive mood.

We also play all kinds of games- Taboo, Scattergories, Yahtzee- and we also always have the oddest, most retro Christmas music we can find. It definitely gives us lots of fond memories to talk about year after year.

Hope this helps!

Other Replys:Food- eggnog, ham or turkey which ever you like more, angel food cake, and punch!

Decorations- of course a christmas tree with lots of ornaments and lights a star or angel at the top and garland, lights on the outside of the house, with like a blow up santa, and if its 2 story garland rapped around the stair way inside, uhm....... have garland all around ur house and a mistle toe..lol!!!!

Activities- opening presents, pin the tail on rood off, eat, talk, and spend as much of the time with the family!

P.S. i hope i could help u if not im soooooo sorry for wasteing ur time but i hope it turns out great and have some1 dress up like santa!!!

Good Luck!!!!!!....have fun........lol!!! don%26#039;t forget the music !!!!!!!

  1. Few days ago have arranged a nice holiday party at one of venues in Los Angeles. Took wonderful ideas from my event planner friend. She helped a lot in making this day beautiful. All my guests were really happy and enjoyed the day.
