Other Replys:Hi there, although I cannot point to a company in Canada, or Alberta for that matter, I can give you some idea of what you should look for:
1. Previous Work. always always always ask for URLs, pictures of graphic design, or anything the company wants to show.
2. How long have they been on the market. If it si a new company it is normal to get a low price, otherwise be aware!
3. How do you update the site? do they have some kind of maintenance plan? how many hours a month, semester, year? how much is overtime? response time frame?
4. Hosting (if you need it). Usually you will pay more for this but then you should not be worrying of calling everyone to find out what the problem is. If you can get all at the same place the better. Finding a hosting party will only save you pennies (and most likely you will get in trouble).
5. Talk to them. Find out who your sales person is and talk to them. Often you can get discounts by being precise with your budgets and asking for ONLY what you need. If you are vague the budget will probably expand to account for the unexpected.
6. Ask them for counseling. This should be free if it is general questions like: is a forum an addded value for my site? do I need a database? do I actually need a shopping cart?
Ask various sources and ask around. Even if one company did a great design for someone, that does not mean they can get your feeling.
Ok thats all for the advise.
cheers

Other Replys:If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a %26quot;homepage%26quot; which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. You can easily generate a full-blown website as a Homepage. Nevertheless, the %26quot;homepage%26quot; URL is likely to be %26quot;http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscribe... name%26quot; and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., %26quot;mydomain.com%26quot; which allows you to link any registered domain name to %26quot;mask%26quot; another website. For example, should you type in %26quot;domainname.com%26quot;, you will be immediately transported to the homepage and the hompage URL of http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber... name will be masked by the domainname.com. And the charge for the redirection service [even at godaddy.com] is normally FREE. Here%26#039;s a demonstration: Type in the URL window: %26quot;www.pizzanextdoor.com%26quot; which will bring up their pizza website. Take note of the domain name. Then type in the URL window: %26quot;http://home.pacbell.net/vten/1a/pizzame... and you will see that this is the original homepage which is unmasked without the domain name!
Good luck!
