What are some of the better hosting companies for a 3rd party program?

I%26#039;m looking at a program for renters: www.online-rent.com. My computer guy tells me that I can%26#039;t use godaddy for this because it doesn%26#039;t have something to set up the program like an IceCube PHP Shell account - I have no idea what that is..... I sent Godaddy something a couple of days ago and have heard nothing.

www.online-rent.com does offer hosting through a company called 2checkout.com. Any suggestions?

Thanks very much for anyone%26#039;s help on this.

PHP is just a programming language used by Unix to create a web based front end to a back end database. Go Daddy does support PHP and will work well if the canned package you buy uses PHP.

My guess is that the application uses MySQL as the database. If it were me, I would want a more secure database than MySQL.

Here is what would do:

Go with a dedicated or virtual server plan.

Use a product that can use Windows Server 2003, IIS, SQL Server 2005 (this includes report server), and ASP (as well as .NET technologies)

You can then design your own reports (that the canned package does not provide you) as well as add your own custom code to make the package do exactly what you want. Or have someone design you a package at http://www.rentacoder.com where you could find a designer for peanuts!
